I have had a rather meaningful day. and a day that I wanted since long ago. It was just as short as 2 hours time in Thailand Creative & Design Center.
cafe @ the entrance
full of pretty stuffs
motifs at the reception
i have drown myself into the sea of books. especially books about jewelery design.
it is not just a library, they have a tv room, where you can watch collection of dvds they have. and something even cooler! a material room, which a visitor does not have an access - a room where you make your idea "materialized", make it come into real life.
how good if we have it here too!

metamorphosis dance concert poster
The committee commented that the previous design is for kindergarten kids performance. I was kind of speechless in the beginning. "something black or grey or brown?". All right that is what they meant by cool.
For me, metamorphosis is suppose to be the beginning of life and new look!
Was it suppose to be mysterious and dull?
I thought this is what they wanted, but after a while i changed my mind and made some changes on it.
I am not sure if you can see 2 people morphing into butterfly / vice versa. Just make sure you think it's cool ( for secondary school performance )
I don't want to complain, but people are just taking things for granted. I m working up til 2am in the morning. I want to quit.
this is the last time! no more!
i knew it. tired... need some rest

dance performance poster
As i promised to design a poster for my sister's co-curriculum dance concert / show.
here is the first complete draft, hopefully they will not need me to change it later on.
the concept is butterfly morphing into people and these group of people are the dancers presenting the performance.

live on the coke side of argh! ... almost there
I was very mad at the verification of the security code. argh! I spent almost 1 hour from that canvas to... one step close to my wallpaper.
As I was looking for some therapy, to balance my disturbance from what I have been suffering with. Came to this site, that I thought I can cure my emotion.
nicely done
security letters incorrect
I want my piece of artwork! The name of my artwork was supposed to be called "Alive".
Took this picture about a year ago in Auckland, I am not sure if it had not been completed. Have a look.
coke side of life~!

DMAM
DMAM - idea is king - second awards night that I have been to. It was a good experience, such as the crowd and the works are mostly result oriented.
I am glad that I had the chance to share the award winning experience with my company. That was a boost for me to work harder for what I am doing and for the company.
The first rank winner was Arc Worldwide Malaysia (Leo Burnett), followed by Ogilvy One - one of the best art direction piece - Levi's - halflives. While silver goes to "Tan Hong Ming in love". (I was trying to explain to myself that, why is that in the Best Art Direction category) - Nevertheless, it is a very cute and sweet national day television commercial for our multiracial society, so is the art direction being judged on catching audiences hearts instead of the post production and execution? Perhaps, it should be Best Film Direction? so, film is also art...
Percintaan Tan Hong Ming
Nice? let's read some notes from the maker - Yasmin.
Our work - Soh Hem Sem won a silver for Best Web Sales & Promotion and bronze for Best Use of Web!

henna / hina
26 years old or onwards will be the age that I am going to do a real tattoo. why 26 ? let it be a secret.
I don't really know why do I want to do a tattoo, except that is a body art or skin decoration, of course not that pain and pleasure thing. I am not going for that, therefore, I am still giving a thought about it. I guess i'll be experimenting some art forms and position of a tattoo on my body by using henna - hina tattoo / Mehndi

rebuild SPINOBOT: IV
I got 3 1/2 hours sleep, to get all the switches done correctly, the time arranged was just enough for me to get on time to get everything loaded into my car and depart to KL. I didn't know if I am really going to make it, but I must not defeated by the fear I have in me. I pushed myself to the limit.
It was a morning working hour time, slight traffice jam at the exit to highway, it was all right after some slow crawl. I looked at the rear mirror, there were some police escorting, I moved to the middle lane, the leading police was too fast, I didn't have time to see what happened, the motorcycle and him crashed onto the ground, he released the bike and both of them were spinning 360 degree on the ground. The following four wheel drives were speeding, managed to brake right about 10m in front of the policeman, lucky him, the other following car changed its lane to mine and stopped right behind me, lucky me.
Without hesitating, I passed them and continue my journey, I thought this must be a sign, I must be extra careful, as today is such an important day for me. I've traveled about 2km later, that group of "VIP" (whoever allowed them to speed like 200km per hour on the road). They came extremely fast, I didn't have time to move myself to the left and I had to move to the most right lane. They were madly speeding then I heard a loud "bang", I saw my car's left side mirror flipped, the last car that passed by hit on it. I saw something flew across the wind screen, I was shocked, the driver from the car behind me was shocked too, someone in the car looked back at me, they went into the smart tunnel.
I was shivering, I thought that was bad, this is my dad's beloved car, and I drove without the left side mirror for a while, I thought of trying to flip it back to the position with the control button for closing both side mirrors, then open up again. It worked, thanks to Toyota. I reached at my dad's shop to calm myself, amazingly there no any scratches discovered. UNEXPLAINED, and I know I was blessed. Took me a while to recover from the frightening moment, mom drove me to Central Market. Thank you so much.
Caught my mate who is back from Germany for vacatoin, to help me out on the setup. We managed to reach the venue on time. Looked and chose the right spot and I started to test tracking for SPINOBOT. He measured the space and wood support measurement are done. Credits to Sean. It didn't go well. There were too many unexpected circumstances that I have tried different ways of solving. I have done everything I could.
Borrowed 2 webcams, tried all my contacts, included my younger brother's to get a mini DV camcorder, I got my cpu built with 3 firewire port, so that I can get the DV cam tested, prepared PS/2 to USB cable for the switches. I used the last option - calling Lin Yew at New Zealand, my advisor for SPINOBOT. He told me ways to solve and gave me resources...He told me "NEVER GIVE UP!". I cried, as that moment I received his message, I already decided to pack up all my belongings to leave exhibition space.
the space that I tried to work on for the setup. say bye.
Not getting these colorful wood blocks to be used for color tracking.
Not using this pile of aluminium angle as for the projector and camcorder frame work.
It feels like miscarriage a baby, I see my design work as my baby, nourished and worked hard on it, and it slipped from my hand as I under estimate the unforeseen problems. I couldn't help, broke down and tried to tell myself that the process of this does matter, I've learned from this, and if there will be another chance, I won't miss it again.
After I got home, putting my computer together and looked into the instruction I got from Lin Yew, I tried and tried, I went to get another webcam immediately, I got QTCap happens on my computer, but it say "Problems with video decoder..." I can't remember, it is midnight, I am too exhausted, thought of taking a nap, and I couldn't wake up after that... till the next day morning, I had to sew up my flag and be prepared to another mission.
my flag that is awaiting to be completed.

thank you and thank you again.

rebuild SPINOBOT: III
I thought there won't be much problems after getting this important equipment to help on rebuilding SPINOBOT, perhaps life is full of surprise!
Realized that this advance and convenient, stylish and up to trend, user friendly and with a 30GB hard disk drive camcorder, is in fact working as a hard disk, not a capture device that is meant to be captured ( if you know what I mean). Mom was shocked, but it is okay, this is the first camcorder in our family, she wanted to get one some times ago, the right time to have it, for recording our up-coming performance at Seremban!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THANKS! MOM AND DAD!

rebuild SPINOBOT: I
I have been working on this since 2 weeks ago. From getting the materials and figuring how to do it, with the help from Nicholas, back from Sydney for 2 weeks holidays, fated to catch him to help :P The only Electronic Engineer guy that I can count on that will not reject me.
WHAT? Even that I have to DIY. The soldering gun does not come with the plug!
wasn't too hard at all. everyone can do that.
the soldering gun
innocent internal circuit board from the keyboard that i broke. laying on top of that key matrix that takes me forever to understand. like a maze game, which very much testing on my eyes sight power and patient.
attached to the computer. NUMLOCK is on.
took me 5 hours to get those wires soldered. but not getting many right circuit to the ideal keys - the navigation keys.
sorry I melt it with that soldering gun. Meanwhile I burnt my skin too. You don't want to see that.
